Courtney White “Porter”
|I was a student at Twin Acres School of Riding from 1984 to 1986. I recently returned to the equestrian world after a 20 year hiatus, and I was amazed and grateful to discover that all of my equestrian training from Twin Acres had never left me. In fact the skills and confidence I learned from the school has carried me through all aspects of my life not just my life in the saddle. Jacqeline and Janice Kruglick are by far the finest instructors and mentors I’ve ever known.|

I have been riding since I was 16 years old. I have always had a love affair of horses and brought my first horse when I was 19. I was totally self taught. I had no real knowledge or sense of balance but always managed for the most part to stay in the saddle. Every one takes a spill now and then. In 1995, I took a pretty nasty spill off a horse. Luckily I wasn’t seriously injured but it did seriously scare me. It didn’t shake my love of horses though and I bought a 17 month old Arab filly. Shortly after that, we moved to Arizona. I now had to look for a trainer in a place I’d never been before and where I didn’t know anybody. So using the trusty yellow pages and horse magazines, I started interviewing trainers. I knew what I wanted and out of 30 trainers that I interviewed only one answered my questions correctly which was Jacque Kruglick. This was the best decision I have ever made. Not only has she given me a great horse, she gave me back the confidence I needed to become a good rider and able to handle any shenanigans a high spirited Arab can throw at me. Doesn’t mean she didn’t get me off as she did a number of times, but thanks to Jacque I could shrug it off and keep going. Funny story… I had just finished a lesson with Jacque and was riding totally relaxed and on a very loose rein, when something spooked her and she literally ran out from underneath me. I remember distinctly bounding off her rump. I thought Jacque was going to collapse from hysterical laughing and I must admit it was pretty funny as I was also laughing so hard I cried. Took me a minute to stand up. Jacque and her twin Janice run a summer camp that is absolutely phenomenal. I have learned so much and have received the added benefit of riding under Janice as well. They both have tremendous knowledge and each brings a different part of the puzzle together. If you want riding skills that will last you a lifetime and learn skills that will guide you through all facets of your life, then this is the place to be.
